HelloDear A space for two

Privacy

Last updated: September 13, 2026

HelloDear gives two people a shared space for conversations and memories. This policy explains what data the service processes, how it is used and kept, and how you can manage it.

Our approach to data

HelloDear has no ads or marketing analytics trackers. We do not track your activity across other apps or websites, sell your data, or use it for advertising.

Data we process

Account data includes the email address, phone number, or Apple or Google identifier used to sign in, along with your nickname, avatar, and optional birthday, birth time, and birth city. Space data includes your relationship start date, anniversaries, dates, language, and time zone.

Content includes messages, photos, videos, stickers, places you’ve been together, and saved memories. The service also processes device tokens for push notifications, your app language, and time zone.

We use Sentry to receive technical error reports when something goes wrong in the app. Error diagnostics are not intended to collect private messages or photos.

Location information in photos

When photos contain capture details, the app uses their dates and locations to organize memories. Original files you separately upload to your shared album may include capture details.

Together sends approximate location areas and time ranges to the server to find places you’ve both visited. With automatic recording enabled, it also records each person’s stops and checks for places you spent time together. It does not record routes or share your live location with your partner.

Service providers

We use Supabase for our database, authentication, and file storage in Tokyo, Japan; Vultr for backend hosting; and Apple for Sign in with Apple, push notifications, and payments. Google is used when you choose Google sign-in, and Twilio sends verification codes when you use phone number sign-in. Sentry provides error diagnostics, and Cloudflare provides domain services.

These providers process the data needed to deliver their services. Apple handles payments. HelloDear does not receive full payment card details, but does verify transactions and subscription status.

We do not sell or rent data or provide it for advertising. Where disclosure is required by law, we handle it under the applicable legal requirements.

Access to your space

Within the app, a space’s content is accessible only to its original two members. Server and database permissions restrict access by other accounts. Data processing needed to operate the service follows the purposes described in this policy.

Together does not upload or share photo files when checking photos on your phone. Photos you choose to share in chat or your shared album are stored in your shared space.

How long data is kept

Deleted photos and videos remain in Recently Deleted for 30 days before permanent removal.

After deleting your account, you have 30 days to restore it using the same sign-in method. After that, your login account and personal information, such as your nickname, avatar, and birthday, are permanently deleted. Shared messages and photos follow the original space’s retention period, and the former account is shown as deleted.

If either member archives a space, neither can add content. Only one person pays for a space at a time. The other original member can take over payment after the current paid period ends and the subscription is confirmed to have stopped.

If no one continues paying, messages, photos, and files are permanently cleared 30 days after the archive date or the end of paid storage, whichever is later. For a space without paid storage, the period starts on the archive date. Check the retention date shown in the app. Neither member can recover the content after it is cleared.

Archiving a space or deleting an account does not cancel an Apple subscription. The person paying must manage renewal separately.

Managing your data

You can manage your profile and download photos and videos still retained in your space through the app. To delete your account, go to Me → Delete Account. You can turn off notifications in your iPhone settings.

To request a copy, correction, or deletion of your personal data, contact hello@hellodear.chat.

Children’s data

HelloDear is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you become aware of an account belonging to a child under 13, contact support so we can arrange its removal.

Security

Connections use HTTPS encryption. Photos and videos are kept in private storage and accessed through expiring links. Sign-in credentials on your device are stored in the iOS Keychain.

We are committed to protecting your private memories with industry-standard security. In the unlikely event of any issue affecting your data, we will notify you right away.

Policy updates

We publish updates on this page with a revised date. We also notify you in the app about significant changes.
